Built near the end of the founder’s era in Fullerton, CA, these two beauties deliver the lush tones that made Leo’s amplifiers famous. From the rootsy, organic grit of the 63 Super (a favourite of slide-legend Joey Landreth) to the bell-like cleans of the 65 V’Lux, Leo’s Pack delivers a range of robust clean tones to sweet, crunchy bite thanks to the 6L6’s providing the amps’ respective 40 and 35 watts. We captured the V’Lux with a Benson Preamp (profile marked “BP”) and a KoT clone (profiles marked “KB”) to push the gain range outside of its normal boundaries, and both amps ran through a 2x12 P12Q/Gold combo which nicely complimented their quintessential American sound. With the characteristic warmth found in each amp’s Normal channel and the brightness present in their Vibrato channels, Leo’s Pack offers a range of tones suitable for any aficionado of his legendary amplifiers.
