If we said “British Chime,” you’d know exactly what circuit we’re referring to. It’s been “the sound” and the defining sonic signature for many guitarists, bands and artists over the past five decades. The British Pack gives you access to 5 different manufacturer’s takes on that circuit. All of these profiles have a slightly different take on “that chime,” and painstaking effort was taken to ensure that these are accurate representations of what the specific amps sound like. They are all slightly different. Some have more chimey bite, and some are smoother. We’ve included single coil AND humbucker versions of the profiles for your convenience.
ACE TB6 = this should be obvious. When you think of EL84 chime, this is what comes to mind.
Red MKII = Manufactured by a renowned and popular boutique amp-maker from Keller, Texas, this circuit is the second and upgraded amp developed alongside Nigel Hendroff. This second iteration made notable improvements in clean headroom and dynamic response. An EL84 tone monster!
Pearl 30 = Inspired by Britain and tastefully merged with some American influence, this lesser-known boutique build will give you a slightly different EL84 chime. You’ll play British rock and then want to switch to percussive SRV phrasing in the same song! Top-notch punch and backbone.
Mustang = The focus here is on the “stang.” This amp was the result of the first collaboration between the “Doc” and Brad Paisley. This amp was tougher than most EL84 amps to coerce into breakup. Majestic cleans and headroom translate into incredible platforms for those accustomed to pedalboards.
Varmint 30 = The manufacturer is “Shurely” based in California and has been pumping out some of the best guitars and amplifiers in the boutique & handmade scene. This particular amp has a big AND small brother, both employing an EL84 power section. However, we chose to profile the beast that sits right in the middle, specifically because of its EL34’s. We wanted this pack to be versatile, and the profiles of this amp really completes the pack.
